Rhinebeck Weekend Recap…
Now that I am some what rested, I feel that it is a safe time to do a Rhinebeck weekend recap. The weekend for us started off busy since I had to work at the university open house. It was a cold but wonderful day, with lots of perspective students attending. I always love meeting new students and sharing my alma mater with them. After the long day we then made it longer by participating in the home coming festivities on campus.
We love this event since it gives us a few hours to catch up with our college friends. We spent hundreds of hours with these lovely people and seeing them annually is such a treat!
After a lovely football game (we lost, but they played well I heard) and an even better band performance we had dinner out with my dear friends and co-workers Elizabeth and Bryn. I have no photos of this event since it was so dark in the pub. We spent time watching the Red Sox, who won that night, but just couldn’t pull it off this season. But yarn makes that a little better, so let’s talk yarn!
After a long day and late night Saturday we packed up the van and headed west to Rhinebeck for a Sunday full fiber fun. We met up with Seth and Nicole, as well as Hattie as we introduced Elizabeth to the fiber world. The weather was brisk but beautiful and there where tons of beautiful sweaters, hats, mittens, shawls and scarves on display. We also saw tons of designers, dyers and authors we admire, but decided to leave them to their day. We did meet up with some real animals though…
We saw loads of sheep, alpaca and llama…
Had a yummy lunch…
And Sean finally got to have his first lamb chili (He’s been trying to have some since Ma Sheep and Wool in 2007 and every festival since they’ve sold out)!
The find of the day for me was the Briar Rose booth. The yarns where beautifully dyed and they had an amazing selection. (Sean’s favorite booths had cheese and beef jerky. Go figure.)
A big thanks to Sean for being our chauffeur for the weekend…
And for one of the best anniversary presents ever!
