It’s just a cold really. He woke up hacking and coughing with a runny nose, and I just couldn’t see sending him into school just to infect the other children (Even though that’s who prolly gave it to him in the first place). He spent the day reading with the Tag Reader (He’s loving Tinkerbell and Cars books right now), playing cars, squishing playdough, and watched a movie. I made homemade soup (Mom’s beef stew recipe) for dinner, but he was still coughing.
Peanut is only four and a half (Yes, I am aware that he looks six; it’s his height). This means he cannot have cough medicine, as there are none on the market for his age or weight. I decided to scour the internet to see what I could find to help him (and the rest of us) have a more restful evening.
I came across this idea that applying Vick’s Vaporub to the soles of the feet and covering them with tube socks would sooth the most severe hacking. I used a cotton pad to liberally apply the rub and placed some warm tube socks on his tiny toes. I also applied the rub to his chest, as my mom did for me, and as her mother did for her.
He’s now snuggled in his bed and we’ve only heard a handful of coughs. Fingers crossed that both he and Ladybug get a good night’s rest. They’re sharing a room now!
P.S. The back and the left front of the Montague Vest are complete, knitting wise. Just cast on for the right front and will finish that before bed tonight.
